Degree in Law and 3-5 years of hands-on experience (preferably in a leading Nigerian law firm)
Member of the Nigerian Bar Association
Experience liaising with startups in the Tech industry
Demonstrable working experience and knowledge in contract law and one or more of the following areas:
Corporate law and governance;
Early stage fundraising;
Commercial law and issues relating to SMEs; and/or
Employee option schemes
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion

As a Legal Associate at Vendease, you will be responsible for monitoring and/or advising on all legal matters, commercial contracts, and agreements. You will also ensure the company complies with the statutory and corporate governance practices and guidelines as observed in the Tech and Supply Chain industry.
What You’ll do
Draft, analyse and review a wide variety of legal agreements, legislation and documents
Liaise with legal consultants on behalf of management and provide advice on corporate legal issues and business matters
Monitor legal developments, in particular, laws, regulations and case laws impacting startups/tech industry in Nigeria
Conduct legal research relating to funding rounds, option schemes, employment agreements, general company law matters, etc.
Provide internal advisory services to the business units and departments within Vendease
Provide commercial legal support to all departments, projects or job functions
Ensure the development of service level agreements for service support and delivery
Monitor the maintenance of the registers and other records required to be maintained by the Company under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA)
Assist in the development of guidelines, policies, procedures
Ensure (internal & external) compliance with guidelines, policies and procedures; investigate issues of non-compliance as may be required.
Review and advice management on legal implications of internal policies and procedures
Review and draft contracts, agreements and internal policies and ensure that they are in compliance with all statutory or legal requirements.
Provide all such other administrative and other secretarial duties as directed by the Legal Counsel & Company Secretary.
