#MCM – Abasiama Idaresit

Our MCM this week, Abasiama Idaresit, is an entrepreneur with an astounding success story.

Idaresit was born in Calebar, Nigeria, where he had his primary and secondary education before travelling to the United Kingdom to further his education. He studied Information Systems & Management at the London School of Economics, subsequently completing his MBA at the Manchester Business School.

He returned to Nigeria and channeled his passion for business growth into starting a digital marketing firm in 2008, Wild Fusion, but he struggled. For 8 months, Idaresit couldn’t find a break as digital marketing was largely unpopular at the time,

Then he found a client, BabyM –a small company that produced care products for babies and new mothers. The company had been using sales agents and struggling to make ends meet so, Idaresit stepped in to pick up the ends. It took a lot of conviction but Idaresit convinced the owner, with the option of money-back in case of failure.

BabyM gave our MCM $250 to set out, and he increased their earnings by 100% in just 3months. The results of his marketing strategy rocked the internet such that even Google took notice and adopted it as an internet marketing case study.

Wild Fusion became the first certified partner of the Google Adwords service in Nigeria. In 2011, it was named Nigeria’s best digital agency and one year later, with no external funding, the company had an annual turnover of $6 million. Currently, Wild Fusion’s portfolio boasts clients like Unilever, Vodacom, Visa, Samsung, Pepsi, Interswitch, Ecobank, Diamond Bank, Planned Parenthood, and many other African and international clients.

Abasiama Idaresit’s belief in the possibilities of the internet for the African Content, and his passion for digital marketing made him a trailblazer. He is truly an icon among many –We Stan!
