Our man crush this week is the Founder & CEO of Farmcrowdy, Onyeka Akumah. Innovator and Tech start-up extraordinaire, Onyeka Akumah is a graduate of Applied Information Technology from Sikkim Manipal University, India. Merging his knowledge of IT with digital marketing skills, Onyeka ventured into the entrepreneurial space.
His impressive portfolio is decorated with roles spanning across top companies. He was the Chief Commercial Officer at Travelbeta, Vice President (Marketing) at Konga, Director of Marketing & Partnerships at Jumia, Online Marketing Manager for Wakanow, E-Marketing Coordinator at Deloitte for West, East and Central Africa, and the Webmaster for British Council in Nigeria.
He is also the cofounder of Crowdyvest, Plentywaka, and RentSmallSmall.
In 2016, he launched Nigeria’s First Digital Agriculture platform, Farmcrowdy, which has since impacted the lives of over 100,000 small-scale farmers; increasing food production in the country and promoting participation in Agriculture.
Onyeka Akumah’s brilliance in the tech field has gained national and international recognition.
In both 2017 and 2018, he was awarded as the Tech Entrepreneur of the Year at the Nigeria Technology Awards.
Also in 2017, he was appointed to the E-Agric Stakeholders Forum by the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Agriculture. In 2018, he was listed as one of Africa’s 30 innovators on the Quartz list, as well as one of the Top 20 Young Entrepreneurs to Watch in Africa, among several other awards and recognitions.
